About Joshua Buist & BU1ST Technologies

BU1ST Technologies is a sovereign-AI company headquartered in Sydney, Australia, founded by Joshua Buist to give workers, crews and local businesses their own private AI systems. We build offline-first tools that run on your hardware and help you quote, plan and operate — without handing your data to big cloud platforms.

Our Story

Joshua was born in New Zealand and is now based in Sydney. His path has never been a straight corporate ladder — it’s been tech, travel, labouring, cleaning, running crews and learning how real work actually gets done.

On job sites and in front of screens, he saw the same pattern: most AI was being built to replace people, not help them. Decisions about workers’ futures were being made in boardrooms and data centres a world away from the people doing the work.

That was the turning point. Instead of watching automation strip out livelihoods, Joshua committed to building a different track — AI that educates, protects and uplifts the worker, and gives small businesses an edge they’ve never had before.

What BU1ST Does

BU1ST Technologies Pty Ltd is a sovereign-AI framework built around one idea: your AI should live where you live — on your devices, your servers, inside your network. Not on someone else’s cloud.

From our base in Sydney, Australia, we design and build systems like Tadow™, ProScope AI™, SnapQuote™ and industry-specific modules that:

• Help trades and cleaners quote and win work faster.

• Turn messy scope notes into clear, professional documentation.

• Reduce admin so owners can focus on operations and growth.

• Keep all sensitive data on-prem, under your control.

Every build is modular and tuned to the industry it serves — from trades and cleaning to education, councils, environmental work and beyond, across Australia and New Zealand.

Why Sovereign AI

Most AI platforms are cloud products first and people second. Data is collected, logged, shared and often used to train models you don’t control. For blue-collar businesses and critical environments, that model is broken.

BU1ST takes the opposite approach:

• Closed, offline-first architecture — tools run locally, even without internet.

• Data sovereignty — you own the data and the operational knowledge.

• Worker-centred design — interfaces built for crews, not tech departments.

This is what we call Sovereign AI: systems that answer to the people who use them — not to a remote platform or third-party provider.

Who We Serve

BU1ST is built for the working world:

• Trades & services – electricians, plumbers, carpenters, HVAC, mechanics.

• Cleaning & facilities – residential, commercial, end-of-lease and hospitality.

• Education & training – schools, apprenticeships, vocational programs.

• Councils & government – local infrastructure, compliance, public services.

• Environment & field work – landscaping, conservation, parks, ecology tools.

The common thread: people who do real work, in the real world, who need technology that respects their time and their privacy.

The Road Ahead

BU1ST started as a simple promise: defend human work in an AI age and give small teams the kind of tools only big enterprises used to have.

Since then, the journey has moved fast:

Early 2025 – Sydney — BU1ST begins, focused on putting workers and owners back in control.

Mid 2025 — We pull off huge advances in offline Sovereign AI, proving you don’t need a data centre to keep your data private and still benefit from powerful AI.

Late 2025 onward — Trades, cleaners, educators and councils begin adopting BU1ST systems.

From here, the mission is clear: keep shipping sovereign, offline-first systems that make life better for the people doing the work — and set a new benchmark for what AI can look like when it’s built for everyday operators, not just for big tech.
